DIVADLO UNGELT

A theatre troupe with a permanent stage with a repertoire of chamber plays.

The Prague Ungelt Theatre is an artistically and socially prestigious theatre for fewer than a hundred spectators. It focuses on chamber plays for two or three characters, offering extraordinary opportunities to extraordinary actors. During the nine years of its existence the theatre has gained an unmistakable place on the map of the theatre Prague and many people consider themselves lucky if they manage to get a ticket to it…

This theatre, which is also a unique theatre from the architectural aspect, is a part of premises of the same name in the heart of Prague. Ungelt – originally a place of relaxation for merchants … Romanesque houses. Romanesque foundations of the building, in the cellar of which the theatre is located, come from the 11th century and they are to be seen in the theatre club. The whole building, including the premises that have been reconstructed into the theatre, has been here since the 14th century. The private theatre Ungelt was inaugurated on 2 October 1995 by Mr. Miloš Kopecký, who also donated his favourite revolving armchair to the theatre. It is situated in the theatre club, in a unique company of other armchairs and chairs – presents from sponsors and famous personalities of the Czech public life, and theatre supporters who regularly visit the theatre, too.
