The Drama Club was established in 1965. There were two former classmates from the Prague Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts – director Ladislav Smoček and dramatic adviser Jaroslav Vostrý – at its birth, who also became the first artistic director of the theatre. 

The Drama Club always has a full house, its productions are nominated in prestigious critical surveys. The Drama Club received the award Theatre of the Year 2002 by The Alfred Radok Foundation. The capacity of the theatre is 200 seats.
