Frankenstein - 3D Black
Václavské náměstí 43, Praha 1
The novel “Frankenstein”, published in 1818, written when the author, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, was only nineteen, is regarded as one of the seminal works of the horror genre. It tells the story of the student, later scientist, Victor Frankenstein, who succumbs to the temptation to create life from scratch.
The Black Light Theatre’s new project, inspired by this fantastic tale of the fulfilment of a life’s wish, was premiered on 4th April 2006 in the refurbished Palace Theatre on Wenceslas Square; in it, you will meet not only Dr. Frankenstein, but also with other well-known characters from the worlds of detective stories and horrors.
The “Colour Dreams of Dr. Frankenstein” show naturally combines elements of classic black light theatre with modern 3D technology. 3D makes the “Colour Dreams” a truly unique experience, without comparison in the world of black light theatre. Thanks to the high-quality techniques and its original script, the audience feels itself right in the middle of the action, the actors and props step outside of the stage and move around, literally within arm’s reach. The tale, not without poetry or humour, is enriched through state-of-the-art technology, music and dance, the dance troupe featuring celebrities such as a three-time world break-dance champion and artistes from the Moscow Circus. The plot is illustrated through the captivating musical score and imaginative sound and light effects.
This precisely judged whole, given with appropriate measures of love and enthusiasm, guarantees a unique experience for viewers of all generations; for connoisseurs of black light theatre, as well as those who are not yet familiar with this art form.
Dr. Frankenstein, a mad, somewhat absent-minded scientist, is obsessed with the idea of creating an artificial human. On the way to realising his dream, he encounters well-known characters from horror and detective stories – bringing to life the Invisible Man, Sherlock Holmes, the Hound of the Baskervilles, Dracula...
Go on a tour of many interesting places in Europe with the hero. Find yourself in the middle of the ocean amongst dancing jellyfish, a 12-metre ship sailing above your head, see the Eiffel Tower in Paris brought to life, be accompanied on your journey across the Alps by high-spirited, yodelling highlanders in traditional Tyrolean dress, and Vienna lives up to its reputation as the city of the waltz. In mysterious Transylvania, beneath the castle of Count Dracula, a gypsy woman foretells……success or failure?
Come and let yourself be surprised, experience the colour dreams of Dr. Frankenstein with him; and after the show, you can even take away a small gift with you – the colour heart of the famous scientist, who hopes that his poetic story can win over yours.
